Rebound Mobile attended Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki, a two-day mobile games conference that gathered 100 speakers, 250 companies from over 30 countries. During 5th-6th of September visitors were offered eight essential tracks for 2016:
-East Meets West,
-Monetise, Retain, Acquire,
-Show Me The Money,
-Mobile Games University,
Along with speakers’ sessions, delegates were welcomed to Global Mobile Games Party to relieve from intense first day of the conference. PGC also organized 20/20 SpeedMatch where 20 developers met 20 publishers at speed-date style meetings, The Very Big Indie Pitch to help indie developers gain a valuable experience meeting leading media and industry experts, and I ♥ Indie Showcase, an expo where indie devs could demonstrate their latest games.
During the conference Rovio advised to not be afraid of making money, Np Consulting named a minimum marketing budget for mobile game, NewZoo called 2016 a year when smartphones go over PC in global game revenue while half of mobile revenue growth comes from China, and VR and AR, despite of their difference, were called a part of the same future.
Timur Kulbaev, co-founder and managing director of Rebound Mobile, shared his research on how to perform successfully on challenging markets at “Secrets of the Russian Mobile UA Unveiled” session. Despite of locals’ western set of mind, Asian companies seem to know an approach to the Russian audience better than other developers. And apparently this is an important issue to take into account as Russia is in Top-5 mobile markets according to AppAnnie, just with less competition.
The conference was not only about networking and information gathering, but also absolutely amazing atmosphere, lots of fun, interesting people and new experiences. Rebound Mobile looks forward to see you in our hometown Helsinki again, so far the next Pocket Gamer Connects will be held in January 16th-17th in London. More info here.
